You know that old saying "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is", well I am happy to say that is not the case with the Tuesday All You Can Eat Wings for $10.99 special at The Bulldog Ale house at Loyola campus.
I was pessimistic going in as I've read some fairly negative reviews on YELP in regards to poor service and poor food quality so I didn't have a whole lot of expectations going in. I had been there one time before for drinks and had a great experience but I didn't have the food. It seems that Bulldogs specialty are the burgers so it further lowered my expectations and I went in with that overall feeling. When I arrived I presented Ryann with several pointed questions. "IS it really all you can eat wings? Yes. How does it work? We bring out 10 wings with up to 2 sauces and then follow with servings of 5 with 1 sauce. Which beers are $4 pints? BULLDOG ALE HOUSE AMBER ALE, BULLDOG ALE HOUSE HONEY WEISS, BULLDOG ALE HOUSE LAGER and BULLDOG ALE HOUSE WHITE ALE. And finally can I combine 2 $4 Jack Daniels as a double in 1 glass? Yes. With those important questions answered we were off to a good start. I had my cocktail and Max arrived and I ordered. First off it was 1/3 Caribbean Jerk and 1/2 Hot Buffalo, AND IT CAME WITH FRIES! (The options at Loyola are HONEY BBQ, GOLDEN BBQ, SPICY HONEY BBQ, GARLIC PARM, SWEET CHILI, CARIBBEAN JERK, BOURBON, MANGO HABANERO, BUFFALO - Mild, medium, hot, wicked hot, PTERODACTYL - Teriyaki and BBQ sauce, SPICY PTERODACTYL - Teriyaki, BBQ Sauce, Cayenne and TERIYAKI - Teriyaki, honey, pineapple) They came out fast and hot and I wasted no time digging in. Ryann remained very accommodating, friendly and attentive, so so much for bad service reviews. My second and surprisingly final order was just Hot Buffalo. (normally I can eat much more) Next time I'm stepping it up a heat level. The sauce was perfect. The tenderness of the meat could not have been better and I was pretty amazed at how meaty the sections were especially for an all you can eat special. As I was dining my friend Boston Bob was at Boneheads a local wing joint in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and we traded pictures via text. So I'm obviously a bit of a wing snob and I was very happy with my experience at the Bulldog Ale House and I will be going back and taking friends on Tuesdays in the near future.
It was a school night and i never go out on school nights but I had some much fun we sat at the bar till about 9PM. All in all the rating is a 9 out of 10 and that's really good considering wings are not the house specialty. Hats off to the Bulldog for a great special and props to our wonderful server Ryann. -

Great selection of beers!
A great place for burgers and fries, or a salad and sandwich. I usually get the bang bang shrimp salad, as it was introduced to me by my friend. Delicious and a large portion. Shrimp is decent sized, coated in a golden fried batter and sauced with a tangy sweet/sour sauce. -

I dropped by Bulldog in Rogers Park on Sheridan & Albion bc it was close to our hotel. They offer burgers, pizzas & salads. BTW, Loyola Univ is a stone's throw away.
I started off w/ the buffalo wings w/ wicked hot sauce (5 wings for $4.99). For my main, I had a 1/4 plant based Impossible burger w/ fries ($13.99).
The wings were aurite. They were meaty, and had a little heat. However, they could have benefited from some seasoning.
Secondarily, the burger patty was small for the price. I would have expected a 1/3 or 1/2 lb patty for the price. In addition, the bun was too bready. I didn't eat the top. Nonetheless, the fries were crispy and hot.
Regarding the ambiance, its your typical sports bar. There is a large bar in the center and picnic type tables on the left, and booths on the right. They offer a lot of beers.
The service from Cullen was good. He was knowledgable about the menu, and he was attentive.
All in all, a decent experience. However, I would have expected better prices so close to campus. -

Today's dining experience was great! We got the wicked hot buffalo wings, regular hot wings, waffle fries, and Bulldog Ale. Everything was delicious, fresh, and well made. The wicked hot sauce was no where as spicy as I wanted it to be... it was about as spicy as the mild-medium at Buffalo Wild Wings. But nonetheless very delicious. Our server Levi was appropriately attentive and nailed everything.
Also - patio is dog friendly. And look at the bottom of your reciept - there's a neat little coupon for next visit.
I saw the customer next to me have a single patty burger that is much thicker and juicier patty than the one I had last time so I was still a little butthurt and feeling cheated during my last experience where I was served a very two thin beef patty, dry overcooked diner burger. Maybe one day I'll give it a shot again and have the server ask the kitchen about the burger patty next time before ordering. -

Great neighborhood addition. The outdoor seating it make it a great spot to stop and have a drink during the summer. Its typical bar food but done well for the most part. However, skip the chicken tenders. Burgers are great and they have an excellent AYCE fish fry on Fridays. Huge variety of beers but not much beyond the usual on spirits and wine. But that's not what you come here for. This is the spot to watch the game, all of them. There are a ton of tvs and the space is designed to amplified the sounds when you are cheering on your favorite team.
Staff is quick, fairly competent and attentive considering how busy this place can get. Outdoors patio spaces at restaurants are hard to come by on Sheridan Road making this a great spot after the beach a nice stop after you get off the train on the way home or to watch the game. With three restaurants all next to one another my only request is a little landscaping to elevate the surrounding area. Its a keeper.
